Throughout the Seder, we typically drink four glasses of wine (or juice). While there are many interpretations to the question of "Why?", such as it being a representaion of our forefathers, or their wives, or the decrees of the Pharoah that the Israelites were freed from, my favorite is the following (which I found on chabad.org):

God uses four expressions of redemption in describing the Israelites Exodus from Egypt:

1. "I will take you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians..."

2. "I will save you from their labor..."

3. "I will redeem you with an outstretched arm..."

4. "I will take you as a nation…"

Tonight, as we drink our wine, so may we be released from our burdens and find redemption, as individuals, as a community, and as a nation from our current hardships. We will now say the blessing over the first cup of wine/juice (the Kadesh).
