We are gathered in a very different way tonight: striving for connection with each other, knowing that Jewish people everywhere are marking this night in their homes, sharing thoughts and ideas, collective memories, and songs as our people have done for over 3,000 years. Though we cannot all be physically together, we reach out for each other with the modern technology that allows us to do so.

Many times in our history, Jewish people lived without freedom. Tonight we remind ourselves of our obligation to continue to protect freedom for all peoples, and we celebrate that we live in peace.
