“Pour out Your wrath upon the nations that do not acknowledge You, and upon the kingdoms that do not call upon Your Name. For they have devoured Jacob and laid waste his habitation. Pour out Your indignation upon them, and let the wrath of Your anger overtake them. Pursue them with anger, and destroy them from beneath the heavens of the L-rd.”

I found interesting that we ask Hashem to take out all of the nations that to not acknowledge us and are trying to wipe us out of the earth. In the past and in the present, other nations want to kill us all. Today, Israel is trying to make peace with all of the countries that don’t like Israel. If the prayer above says to destroy them and to take them off of the earth, why does Israel want to make peace instead of doing what the prayer says? I believe that Israel doesn’t kill and destroy all the other nations because today the world is different. Israel believes that the lives of our fellow Jewish people are more important than killing people and groups that dislike them. Israel prefers life and the holy land, over killing people who don’t acknowledge them. This part of the Hagada speaks to us today. We ask Hashem to pursue justice in his own behalf. But the people should pursue peace.
