Break the middle matzah in half and hide the larger piece as the Afikomen, which we will find later on to complete our meal.

We see brokenness in times of joy and times of pain. At a Jewish wedding, the groom traditionally breaks a glass to remember the hardships of the Jewish people, even during the happy occasion of marriage.

We break this matzah just as our heart has so often been broken. But, we know that sometime soon, we will find the other half and mend the brokenness in celebration. We are a resilient people just like our ancestors in Egypt.
