At this time in the seder, we focus out attention to the matzah (like we haven't been wanting some yet). There should be three pieces of matzah in the middle. During this step, you are supposed to break the middle piece of matzah. One piece, perferably the larger one gets put away for the afikoman, and the other piece is put back in the middle. I chose this passage because it tells the story of how our ancestors have to do with the afikoman and the whole matzah process in general.
