Yachatz is the breaking of the middle of the matzah. First, you take hold of the middle of the three matzahs that are on your seder plate. Then, you break it in two and leave the smaller half between the two complete matzahs. Then you break the larger piece into 5 pieces and hide it in a cloth which is then the Afikomen. I can relate to this because when I was younger I would look forward to the Afikomen as a fun activity, and now I realize that the Yachatz is hat leads up to the Afikomen which I thought was the best part of the seder. This allows me to see how Matzah is important, as it was the only "bread" our ancestors could eat while being slaves. I can feel the connection of being free while doing Yachatz.
