Yachatz

Leader: I now perform the ceremony of "Yachatz". No blessing is said when we break the middle Matzah, since it is broken as a symbol of incompleteless. It reminds us of tikkun, all that needs repair in our world. Let anyone who is hungry join us at this Seder, and let them partake of what we have to share. As we celebrate here we remember that all people are not yet fully free. Let's all remember Passover's hope: Next year all will fully be free. I will break the middle matzoah in two, removing one half and setting it aside. This will become the "Afikoman," the dessert, to be eaten at the conclusion of our meal.
