We now welcome the final glass of juice or wine and we welcome Elijah into our house. The children should open the door at this point to welcome Elijah in to drink from his cup of wine.

We remember Elijah as a defender of G-d. It is said Elijah will return to bring peace to everyone. We save a glass of wine for him in the hope he will bring some joy and peace to our family, friends and the world around us.

We also enjoy having a glass of wine with Elijah, as we drink the fourth glass.

The Fourth Glass of Wine

The blessing over the meal is immediately followed by another blessing over the wine:

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְיָ, אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, בּוֹרֵא פְּרִי הַגָּפֶן

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, borei p’ree hagafen.

We praise God, Ruler of Everything, who creates the fruit of the vine.

Drink the third glass of wine!
