At its heart Pesach is a holiday celebrating freedom.

We are privileged to have chosen to live in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia, a place rich in history, culture and life.

In our celebration tonight, we commemorate and remember the people who suffered during the course of our becoming free. We remember each of the plagues that befell innocent Egyptians in order for the Pharaoh to see fit to let the Jews go as a free people.

This seder is a happy time, tinged with regret for our ancestors who lived and died as slaves. We give thanks for our own freedom and the freedom of our children and we count ourselves lucky to have the privilege of choice, thanks to those who came before us.
