Urchatz--Washing the Hands

In Hebrew, urchatz means “to cleanse.” In Aramaic, a sister language to Hebrew, urchatz means to trust." Every year we wash our hands in the tradition of the first meaning-- purification of body and soul as usual, but this year we also do it in the tradition of the second meaning---with gratitude for the health care providers and other essential workers on whom we rely in these troubled times.
