This is important because the story of our ancestors become our own. We commemorate the story by talking about the slavery, struggle, and the freedom. Magid starts with Ha lachma anya which states " Today, we are here. Next year, in the land of Israel. Today, we are slaves. Next year, we will be free." This is important because one goal of all Jewish people is to be in Israel during passover. We are slaves today but we want the Mashiach to come and make us free for next year.
