Seder Table

In other years, the Pesach table is set with wine glasses, candles, plates and place settings ready, as we all are eagerly anticipating a wonderful Passover Seder Together!  This year is different. This year we're missing many of the familiar objects and foods that we associate with celebrating Passover. But we are still able to come together tonight to observe the commandment to retell the Passover story as if we were ourselves there to witness it. May we find a balance between the seriousness of this celebration and the levity that we bring to our Zoom gathering tonight.

From the most downtrodden to the most celebrated, the message is clear: everyone is welcome and everyone is necessary. Why is it that we go out of our way to include all at our seder table? Perhaps it is because when we make room for others, we have the opportunity to make room for ourselves as well. In fact, the Mishnah teaches us that:

In every generation a person is obligated to see themselves as if they left Egypt
