Since the time of the exodus from Egypt, Jews have waged a continuous struggle against tyranny, hatred, and racism. Always, we have fought back. during world War Two another chapter was added to the history of our people's fight for freedom. The Holocaust is our story, we are not free to ignore or forget it.

Let's remember the women, men and children who faced their end with dignity and pride. Resistance fighters. Saboteurs. Mothers. Fathers. Slave laborers in the crematoria at Birkenau and Treblinka. Cooks in the ghetto kitchens at Warsaw and Vilna. the famous and the unknown. Artists and peasants. Grandmothers and babies. Those who perished and those who survived. eleven million lives. Ten thousand camps. Repeat some of the names of the camps and vow never to forget.

Auschwitz-Birkenau - Majdanek - Treblinka - Chelmo - Sobibor - Belzec - Westerbork - Buchenwald - Mathausen - Theresienstadt - Bergen-Belsen - Ravensbruck - Dora-Nordhausen - Neuengamme- Dachau

Let us remember Anne Frank's words:

It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all of my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can't build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I here the ever approaching thunder which will destroy us too. i can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right. That this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again. In the meantime, i must uphold my ideals, for perhaps the time will come when I shall be able to carry them out.

All who are hungry, let them come to eat. All who are needy, let them celebrate Pesach with us. Now we are here. Next year, may we be in Jeruselam. Now we are slaves, We dream of freedom. We dream of a world at peace.
