A Passover Orange and the Importance of Inclusion

The orange is a new addition to the seder plate. As time passes, tolerance and acceptance continue to grow in our community. The orange is a symbol of welcoming to those that may feel marginalized by some members of society. There's room for more symbols on the seder plate — and room for more participants around the seder table. We as the modern Jewish people love and accept empowered women, people with disabilities, intermarried couples, and members of the LGBT Community.

Please pass this orange around the table. Each person should take a segment to eat. Together, we shall say: Thank you, God, for making Your creations varied.

(Don't forget to spit out the seeds of intolerance.)
