Why do we call it Pesach, shouldn’t it be called Chag Hamatzot like it says in the torah? Hashem called it Hamatzot because we left quickly left but we call it Pesach because He saved us.

According to that then shouldn’t we call it Yetziah-took us out and not Pesach? It’s what led up to the Yetziah that was the more important event.

Yetziat Mitzrayim literally means the departure of mitzrayim, so shouldn’t it be Yetziat Yisrael? We are celebrating the culture and the ideas of mitzrayim leaving us.

Why is it called Pesach?

פ=פארן

ס=סיני

ח=חורב

These are all the names of Har Sinai. The purpose of Yetziat Mitzrayim isn’t the leaving, rather the purpose of Yetziat Mitzrayim was to get the Torah.

We also see the mention of the Torah in the name again

פ=פה=85

ס=סמך=120

ח=חת=408
