We must explain the Seder Plate and each food on the plate before we can start eating. Since as we explain we will eat some of the food, we must say the blessing over food - the Motzi.

We will also point to the matzah on the plate and share the matzah on the table.

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, hamotzi lechem min ha-aretz.

We praise God, Ruler of Everything, who brings bread from the land.

The first and most prevelant item on the Sedar plate is the Matzah. It is the "bread" we will eat for the next week in rememberance of those Jews who needed to escape Pharaoh.

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al achilat matzah.

We praise God, Ruler of Everything, who made us holy through obligations, commanding us to eat matzah.

Distribute and eat the top and middle matzah for everyone to eat.
