Moses and the Burning Bush

Moses went to the land of Midian, where he become a professional shepherd, which was a living. One day, he was shepherding on Mount Horeb when he saw a bush that was on fire and speaking in a voice that sounded kind of like Morgan Freeman’s.

This turned out to be G-d, who told Moses that he was going to rescue the Israelites from slavery and take them to a land flowing with milk and honey.

This raised several questions in Moses’s mind, such as:

Were the milk and honey flowing separately, or mixed together?

Were they flowing right on the ground?

Wouldn’t that attract insects?

But this did not seem like a good time to interrupt. G-d told Moses that he should go back to Egypt and lead his people to freedom. Moses was afraid the people would not believe him. So G-d told him to throw down his rod on the ground. (Apparently, one walked around nonchalantly with rods then, like it was nothing!)

Anyway, he threw his rod on the ground, and the rod turned into a serpent. Moses was afraid again, but G-d said to him, “Don’t be. Grab it by the tail and say, who’s your daddy?” Moses did, and it turned back into a rod!

At that point, Moses said, “Dude – I’m getting Aaron in on this,” and went looking for his brother to help get their peeps out of Egypt.
