YACHATZ – MiSha’arotam

After breaking the Middle Matzah and wrapping the portion for the Afikoman, the wrapped portion (Afikoman) is placed on the shoulder of the youngest, who repeats the following  (or all can say it in unison)

MiSha’arotam Tzrurot B’Simlotam Al Shichmam

And the people took their dough before it was leavened,

“Their kneading troughs tied up in their clothing upon their shoulders.”

(Exodus 12:34)

This means that even the youngest of the children had to help carry their belongings out of Egypt.
