Written by David Lloyd
(To “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter”)

I’m gonna sit right down and butter up some matzoh

And make believe it’s really bread

I’m gonna say “Oh, why use yeast”

“To make the balls for Pesach feast?”

Still I wish I could finagle

One big bite of bagel

I’m gonna smile and say “It’s good, that’s sure as shootin’”

Then swallow hard and try to schmooze

I’m gonna eat it but I really miss my gluten

Oy, what we do to be good Jews!

I’m gonna break a piece and make the afikomen

And hide it from those brats (such schnooks)

For at the risk of being vague

You know they’re just another plague

But if they find it I will barter

And we’ll see whose smarter

So, let’s all sit down and butter up some matzoh

Fuggeddabout brioche tonight

Yeah, let’s all sit down and butter up some matzoh

And make believe it tastes just right
