This is the main part of the Pesach seder. Maggid is fulfilling the mitzvah from the Torah of telling the story of our exodus. When we tell the story, we actively remember it. Being proactive in remembering somethings, shows a deep connection to that thing and points the intention behind it. Pesach is the proof of our heritage. The fact that throughout the generations the entire nation is telling the same story that happened to the entire nation can only mean thats it is a true story. Otherwise we would not be able to nake up such a things and have everyone tell it to their kids.

Raise the tray with the matzot and say:

This is the bread of affliction, which our ancestors ate in the land of Egypt. Let all who are hungry come and eat. Let all who are in need, come and share the Pesach meal. This year, we are here. Next year, in the land of Israel. This year, we are slaves. Next year, we will be free.

Refill the wine cups, but don’t drink yet.
