The Hebrews fled quickly. They didn't have time for their bread to rise, which is why we eat matzah to this day. Pharoah regretted letting them go, and sent his army to follow them. When they got to the Red Sea, they were trapped between the sea and the army. Moses raised his staff, and the sea parted, giving the Hebrews a dry path to the other side. When the Egyptian army tried to follow, the sea closed in on them. The Hebrews, safe on the other side, sang a song of rejoicing in their freedom.
