מַה נִּשְׁתַּנָּה, הַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה
מִכָּל הַלֵּילוֹת

Mah nishtanah halaylah hazeh
mikol hleylot...

What makes this night so different
from all other nights...

שֶׁבְּכָל הַלֵּילוֹת אָנוּ אוֹכְלִי
 חָמֵץ וּמַצָּה
הַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה, כֻּלּוֹ מַצָּה

She-b'khol ha-leylot anu okhlin
khameytz umatzah
Halaylah hazeh, kulo matzah...

That on all other nights
we might eat both leavened and unleavened bread
But on this night, only unleavened bread...

שֶׁבְּכָל הַלֵּילוֹת אָנוּ אוֹכְלִין
שְׁאָר יְרָקוֹת
הַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה, כֻּלּוֹ מָרוֹר

She-b'khol ha-leylot anu okhlin
sh'ar y'rakot,
ha-laylah ha-zeh, kulo maror...

That on all other nights
we eat many vegetables,
but on this night, we specifically eat maror...

שֶׁבְּכָל הַלֵּילוֹת אֵין אָנוּ מַטְבִּילִי
 אֲפִילוּ פַּעַם אֶחָת
הַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה, שְׁתֵּי פְעָמִים

She-b'khol ha-leylot eyn anu matbilin
afilu pa`am achat,
ha-laylah ha-zeh, shtey f`amim...

That in all other nights
we don't dip vegetables even once,
but on this night, we dip them twice...

שֶׁבְּכָל הַלֵּילוֹת אָנוּ אוֹכְלִין
בֵּין יוֹשְׁבִין וּבֵין מְסֻבִּין
הַלַּיְלָה הַזֶּה, כֻּלָּנוּ מְסֻבִּין

She-b'khol ha-leylot anu okhlin
beyn yoshvin u-veyn m'subin,
ha-laylah ha-zeh, kulanu m'subin...

That in all other nights
some eat sitting and others reclining,
but on this night, we are all reclining...
