Take the maror, bitter herbs,  (horseradish) and dip them into the haroset.

May the sweet haroset that we eat with these bitter herbs symbolize for us the hope and freedom that enables our ancestors to withstand the bitterness of their slavery.

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, asher kid’shanu b’mitzvotav v’tzivanu al achilat maror.

We praise God, Ruler of Everything, who made us holy through obligations, commanding us to eat bitter herbs.
