Host: We have now told the story of Passover…but wait! We’re not quite ready for dinner. We have a song to sing and some symbolic eating before we eat our main course.

First, our song. Dayeinu

Dayeinu invites us to be grateful for the blessings in our lives, as and when they unfold. We have no way of knowing how our story is going to end, much less what next year, or even tomorrow, will look like. All we have is here and now. Dayeinu teaches us to live in the present by cherishing each of life's blessings as we experience them.

(sing chorus twice)

If we left Egypt, that would be enough.

All say: Dayeinu

If Pharoh was punished, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we were given the Egyptian’s wealth, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If the sea was split for us, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we came to dry land, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If our oppressors drowned, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If our needs in the wilderness were satisfied, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we were fed manna in the wilderness, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we were given the Sabbath, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we were given the Ten Commandments, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we came to the land of Israel, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

If we built the temple, that would be enough.

All: Dayeinu

(sing chorus twice)
