Dayenu

Dayenu (adapted from translation by Marsha B. Cohen and Mitchell Chefitz)

If You'd set us free from slavery

But didn’t lead us out of Egypt

Free from slavery, out of Egypt, DAYENU

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu…

If You led us out of Egypt

But didn’t split the Red Sea for us

Out of Egypt, split the Red sea DAYENU!

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu…

If You split the Red Sea for us

But didn’t feed us manna in the desert

Split the Red Sea, fed us manna DAYENU!

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu…

If You fed us manna in the desert

But didn’t bring us to Mt Sinai

Fed us manna, brought us to Sinai DAYENU!

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu

If You brough us to Mt. Sinai

But didn’t give us words of Torah,

Brought us to Sinai, gave us Torah, DAYENU!

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu…

If You gave us words of Torah

But not Shabbat to enjoy together

Gave us Shabbat, enjoy together DAYENU!

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu

But You set us free from bondage

And You led us out of Egypt

And You split the Red Sea for us

And gave us manna in the desert

And you brought us to Mount Sinai

And You gave us words of Torah

And Shabbat to enjoy together

Blessings of food and family and freedom DAYENU!

Refrain: Daye, Dayenu…
