Finding and eating the Afikomen צָפוּן

Tonight, using the wonderful resource that we have using Zoom to bring us together, we will regrettably not be able to share out festive Passover Meal with one another in person. So the ancient rabbis will have to excuse us tonight for switching Step 11 and 12 -- 11, Shulchan Orech (eating the meal) with 12, Tzafun (finding and eating the afikomen).

You may remember that at the beginning of our seder, we broke the middle matzah and one half away to eat as dessert, following our meal. Well, that piece of matzah has somehow now disappeared! So now it's up to find it.  In our family tradition the children at our seder hide it and the seder leader searched for it. Tonight we ALL will go on the search together.  What fun!

The playfulness of finding the afikomen reminds us that we balance our solemn memories of slavery with a joyous celebration of freedom. As we eat the afikomen, our last taste of matzah for the evening, we are grateful for moments of silliness and happiness in our lives.
