The Guardian interviewed some impoverished children and gathered their reports. Although it may be difficult to read, it is imperative to attempt to understand the difficulty these children experience. Here is one child's account:

"I remember when I was paying with a token, someone just came up to me and said 'why do you use that... are you free school meals?'. And they were like 'it's because you're poor isn't it?' and started saying that I was poor and everything like that."

Why should a child need to have this experience? This is a question we must ask each other on this night.
